Leslie Robert Johnson

Leslie Robert Johnson was the middle of three children born to Christina Kingstrom Johnson and (Johan) Robert Johnson, who were both immigrants from Sweden. The family lived in St. Louis Park, MN. Leslie’s mother Christina died when he was fourteen-years-old from pneumonia as a result of tuberculosis, after a stay in the Glen Lake Sanitarium. His father Robert owned several Gold Star gas stations and the ‘Johnson Family Garden’, a dance hall in St. Louis Park, MN. Les married Alice Maritana Schnabel in 1930 and they settled in St. Louis Park, where Les went on to be a successful builder of post-war housing. In addition, he was the founder of Town Taxi in St. Louis Park. Leslie and Alice had three daughters: Joan Lois Johnson, Gloria June Johnson, and Carolyn Gail Johnson.
